He stumbled back into the wall, dumb with shock, his usually quick mind working slowly. This was far more disorienting than anything else he had witnessed in this world. He'd let in Shang Tsung, dressed in the guise of his wife - Jane was still on the island, she and their unborn baby safe and sound, but he'd endangered everyone on their side, and the fate of this world.
He was a humble man, and harder on himself than he'd ever be on anyone else, and the knowledge that he'd made such a mistake, blinded by his concern for Jane... there were no words for how low he considered himself at the moment of that realization.
He pushed himself off the wall, swinging his own rifle around in the desperate hope that he could get a kill shot off before his weapon met the fate of Sonya's.
