With people, there is always a sign or two that one gives when it's clear that some thing's either not right, or just on their minds. For Sonya, in this case, it was the fact that she was at her hut and not actually doing or anything, except waiting for some breadfruit to finish cooking in its banana leaf wrappings over the fire pit. It was one of those rare moments when she didn't want to think, but she didn't really feel like doing much else.

She should have known, when she didn't see his boat by the docks that morning. She tried to reason with herself that he was only on the other island, but after a few days her senses couldn't be denied any longer.  By that Saturday afternoon, what Sonya had started to deny became a fact-David Webster was no longer on the island.

Even though they hadn't really talked much lately, Sonya couldn't help but feel something else behind his disappearance. It brought back the memory of after Joe's disappearance, when she and Webster argued over him leaving, and now with him- she felt even more alone than usual. At the time, it was because she was aware of how she had no one, and while she shouldn't have let it affect her, it was her friends vanishing off the island that made her feel how alone she was. It was how it always was, in a way, she would end up by herself. The irony now was that she had someone she loved..more as a friend, someone that could disappear any day now: she could wake up and find his side of the bed gone cold. She knew it was inevitable, but she hated the thought of waiting in fear for something like that.

He wasn't at the hut when she returned from a jog-relatively easy going with her leg still sore, but she expected him to be back any time soon. What she was thinking may have been irrational, but then what on this island was ever rational. She wanted to spend the rest of her time on the island with him, she was aware of this now-even if it took Webster's vanishing to have her come to that realization.  Sonya wasn't sure if Scorpion would agree or not, but the only way she'd know for sure is through him.

Her face was grim as she poked one of the banana leaf casings: still not done.

Hanzo spoke in a soothing tone.

"I'm sure there's a way to get wedding bands made. Ask around. We have plenty of time to work on the guest list, food, and decorations. And, as for children, I'll stop taking those pills. It will take some time wear off, and if need be, we can use condoms."

He kept working on her. She did seem anxious. But, in time, he could remedy that.

She sighed, turning her head to face him.

"I think we should set a deadline, atleast. It'll give us a better way to schedule things, say..several months from now?"

Sonya felt herself relax. One thing of being busy all the time was that she wasn't one to take peaceful moments for granted.

"Agreed about the kids." It sounded like a plan: if they had them, they had them.

"Do you really want to wait several months? I know that is more customary on Earth, but we can have a small ceremony and reception planned fairly easily. It's possible to pull off before the end of the year. When do you want the ceremony?"

They would possibly have to deal with the winter sorcery Sonya had mentioned before. He wasn't sure if he wanted a winter wedding or not.

"True, but people tend to get pissy about dates being set too soon." She thought a bit. "October seems too close, however you set it. November possibly.." She held up a hand. "What do you say for early Decemeber-give or take a week?" Because honestly, with the way the island behaved, she figured they may as well be flexible about such things. "Could ask Jane permission for the ballroom, it's big enough for a small party and we don't have to worry about a bunch of frozen guests."

He nodded at her suggestion. He did enjoy Jane's ball, even though he had been a bit anxious about the dancing part. Dancing at his own wedding reception would be no problem for him.

"Yes, that sounds nice. We can split the rest of the planning tasks up. Tackle them as a team. We should write a list for each of us."

She gave a short nod, grinning. "Sounds like a plan." They could think up a list later that night when she got off from work.

Sonya lay back, enjoying the massage in silence before realizing. "My birthday's December 15th-it would be a nice way to remember an anniversary."

"That sounds great, Sonya. We can do it then, if you like. I'm looking forward to it."

He felt good. It was one thing to be in committed relationship, but quite another to be engaged. This was very good.

"Sonya, perhaps this is why we were taken to this island? I would think that if there was any type of purpose for us here, this is it."

"I think it sounds like a good idea. Didn't celebrate my birthday last year." Though it truth it was because she didn't really feel like having a celebration at the time. "Could be a way to make up for it."

She smirked. "I have no idea on that one. Remember, I was on the island a little over a year before you showed up."

"It's a nice thought. Even if our being here had no sense to begin with, it does now. I am very glad that I have you around for this time I have as a human again. You're very dear to me, Sonya."

He paused the massage to wrap his arms around her again. She was now his fiance.
